Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy covers bysoft.site and our games hosted on subdomains of it. The short version: we do not collect personal information, and we do not run user accounts of any kind.

Information we collect

We collect your email address only when you choose to subscribe to our weekly update list. We use it solely to send you that update, and we never share it or use it for any other purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time by simply not opening the update, or by emailing us if you would like to be removed.

Data stored in your browser

Our games keep a small amount of state on your own device using your browser's local storage. This includes your best scores, your local leaderboard, your daily-challenge results, and whether you have muted the sound. This data never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser storage for this site erases it.

The daily leaderboard

Pebble Merge and Same Seed each have a daily challenge with a shared global board, and playing one sends a single request to our score server containing the moves you made during the run, the date you played, and a random identifier that your own browser generated and keeps in local storage. That is all of it. We never ask for a name, and the name shown on the board is one the game picks at random, not one you type.

The server replays those moves through the same game code your browser runs and recomputes the score. That is how invented numbers get rejected. What we keep is the date, the random identifier, the random display name, the score, and the move log. Your IP address is used only to cap how many runs one player can submit in an hour. It is not stored with your entry, and none of it feeds advertising or profiling.

Same Seed also lets anyone watch how a past day's top runs were played: the move log of a finished season can be replayed, move by move, from the game's page. These replays only cover days that have already ended, they are addressed by leaderboard rank, and they never include the random identifier or any other per-player data — just the moves, the date, and the display name that was already public on the board. Today's challenge is never replayable. If you would rather not appear in a replay, that is not currently something we can switch off per player; the replay shows nothing beyond what the leaderboard already shows next to your name.

The other modes are entirely local. A Classic or Zen run is never transmitted.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages and games get opened, how long a visit lasts, and roughly where visitors come from. It is operated by Google and identifies your browser with cookies such as _ga. Those are the only cookies set on our own domain, and they are not set until you agree — see Your cookie choices below. Everything else a game remembers — your best score, your player id, your settings — lives in your browser's local storage, which is not a cookie and is never transmitted to us.

This site may display advertising served by third parties. Google AdSense is a third-party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve and measure ads here.

Your cookie choices

A banner appears the first time you visit. Nothing from any advertising partner is requested until you press one of its two buttons, so the choice is a real one rather than assumed from the fact that you kept reading. The same answer governs Google Analytics.

Your answer is stored in this browser's local storage under bysoft.consent.v2 together with the time you gave it. It is never transmitted to us. To change it later, use Cookie settings in the footer of any page, or clear this site's storage in your browser.

How to opt out of personalised advertising

Personalised advertising means ads chosen using information about your interests inferred from your browsing. You have several ways to turn it off:

If we add advertising vendors beyond Google, this page will be updated to name them specifically.

Server logs

Like essentially every website, our hosting provider may record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, for the purpose of serving the site and investigating faults. We do not combine this with any other data to build profiles.

Children

Our games are intended for a general audience and contain no age-restricted content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
